Historical Background

1953 - 1990
Foundation & Technological Expansion

Established as the Refractory Department of SCG,
the company launched Thailand’s first refractory plant with an initial capacity of 3,000 tons per year. Initially founded to support internal affiliates, the department rapidly scaled its capabilities by integrating advanced technologies from the USA, Europe, and Japan.

1990 - 2009
Global Expansion and Infrastructure Scaling

Our journey began in 1990 with the commissioning of our first Basic Plant, featuring an annual production capacity of 45,200 tons. This milestone established the foundation for long-term growth and innovation while supporting our initial expansion into the ASEAN market.

In 1993, Siam Refractory became an independent company, marking a significant step in its evolution as a dedicated provider of refractory and industrial solutions. Supported by continuous investment in technology and manufacturing capabilities, the company expanded its production capacity to 162,000 tons per year by 2007.

Alongside this growth, Siam Refractory strengthened its international presence, successfully expanding into key high-growth markets across the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa, reinforcing its position as a trusted global industry partner.

2011 - 2016
Strategic Production Base and Capacity Expansion

To support rising global demand, Siam Refractory established Anhui CONCH-SCG Refractory in China through a strategic joint venture, creating a new production hub for Basic Bricks. This investment was complemented by capacity expansion at our Saraburi facilities, reinforcing operational efficiency and supply reliability across key markets.

2017 - 2019

Transitioning to a Total Solutions Provider and Sustainability Pioneer

Expanding beyond product manufacturing, we evolved into a comprehensive solutions provider with the introduction of our Total Refractory Management (TRM) model, delivering end-to-end refractory solutions and operational excellence for the cement industry.

At the same time, sustainability became a core pillar of our business through the launch of our proprietary Refractory Waste Management Service and the development of a portfolio of Low-Carbon Footprint Products.

These initiatives reinforce our commitment to enhancing industrial performance while advancing resource efficiency and circular economy practices.

2020
Digital Transformation and Capacity Optimization

Enhanced manufacturing efficiency and maximized production capacity at the Saraburi Plant through strategic investments in automation, debottlenecking initiatives, and digital transformation.

In parallel, our joint venture, Anhui CONCH-SCG Refractory in China, expanded its manufacturing capabilities to include Alumina Brick production, further strengthening our regional supply network and product portfolio.
